Join us for the California Spring Keiko to learn with Rick Hotton Sensei and Melissa Bell Sensei, for a weekend combining the principles of karate and aikido. Developing quality of movement and awareness enriches the practice of any style of martial art. This event will help martial artists of any tradition to expand their repertoire of movement and find new connections as they practice their own style. Come explore with us!
Hosted by Karen MacDonald Sensei at Petaluma Karate Club, this event is open to practitioners of any style and any level of experience.
We will have two full days of instruction, four sessions total over the weekend of May 6 & 7.

Melissa Bell Sensei is the Chief Instructor of Sarasota Aikikai in Sarasota, FL, and an esteemed teacher at many seminars and training camps. She has trained in aikido since 1992 with the legendary Mitsugi Saotome Sensei, who was uchi-deshi to Ueshiba Sensei (the founder of aikido). Rick Hotton Sensei is the Chief Instructor of West Wind Karate Dojo in Sarasota, FL, and teaches across the US and internationally, including an online program with students from around the world. Over the course of more than 50 years of karate, he has developed a philosophy of teaching and practice that integrates quality movement and personal inquiry as the guiding forces of a martial practice, incorporating knowledge from many traditions and teachers. His instruction is focused not only on effective technique but also inspiring each student to find their own personal connection with their art and the freedom to explore that.
